新しい仕事 New Job!

近所のターゲットと言う企業のスーパーショッピングセンターで仕事を始めた。
以前から仕事は探してたのだけど、１５歳以下でできる仕事は少ない。１６になって、できる事がふえて、はりきってあちこちに出向いてみた。うちの近くにあるターゲットにはもちろん行く。

店に置いてあったコンピューターでアプライイング。すぐ電話がかかってきて、インタビュー。その直後に二次インタビュー、ドラッグテスト、気がついたら他の仕事を見に行く間もなく、採用。あっけ。慣れてるなあ。

安い時給でキャッシャーになった。どんな仕事だろうが、仕事を持つこと自体嬉しい。ちょっと大人になった気がする。何かを頼られ、何か責任を持って、仕事場や社会の一員になる。しっかり自分の立つ場所が、立てる場所がある。
なんか、らしくなく舞い上がってるけど、今あたしはとてもいい気分。

同時にターゲットで仕事が見つかった友人は、ラッキーな事に店内のスタバで働くらしい。そこは四六時中良い香りがする。私はコーヒーは好きなので空き時間にふらふらとよってしまいそう。

ターゲットは日本には無いが、サウスアメリカやインドに進出しているけっこうな大企業。
うちの街のセンターは従業員約３００名。（思ったほどいなかった。私の学校の１学年の生徒数より少ないな。）スタイリッシュでトレンディなので若い客を多くよんでいるポピュラーなところ。ターゲットをしらない高校生はいない。
建物も広く明るく、なにもかも清潔におしゃれに、というモットーらしい。
従業員のラウンジや裏のストックルームまで、きれいに整理されている。カベにはボードやカレンダー。カンパニーのカラーの赤のデコレーションや洒落たつくりのオフィスで、楽しい雰囲気も。働いている皆はあかるく感じがよい。
すべてが非常にシステマチックで、パリッとしているところがすごく好きだ。

いい仕事場が見つかってとってもラッキー。

まだ始めたばかりで知らない事がたくさん。

I began work at a nearby shopping center called Target.
I had been looking for a job, but there aren't many things a person can do at ages below 15. So, as soon as I turned 16 and my opportunities expanded, I jumped at every now hiring sign. Of course I went to Target; it was the biggest store within a mile or two from my place.

I applied through a computer at the store. Soon later I got a phone, got an interview, five minutes later another interview and a drug test, and before I could go look at other jobs I was hired. Dazed. How speedy.

At a low wage I was made cashier. Whatever the job is, I am happy to have a job. It feels like you are a bit more adult. You are relied by others, you are responsible for something, you are a part of a workplace or community. You have a place to stand. ...It is unlike me to say something so cheesy; I'm just really excited right now.

A friend of mine who got hired around the same time is going to work at Starbucks. It smells awfully nice over there... and probably I'll be stopping there often from now on.

Target doesn't exist in Japan, but it is a pretty big corporation that is out in other countries such as India also.
Our center employs about 300 people. (Less than I thought. It's fewer than the number of students in my class in high school.)
It's a popular shopping place where things are stylish and trendy, attracting many young people in the city. There is no high schooler who doesn't know what Target is.

The building is bright and roomy, and the motto for store design is to be clean and stylish.
Even the employee lounge and stockrooms are neat and sanitary. On the walls are message boards and calenders regulating organized communication. Decoration in the company color red and modern design offices create a fun atmosphere. All the workers are energetic, sincere and simply nice to be around.
Finally everything is systematic and well coordinated. Personally a huge plus.

I am very lucky to find a good workplace.

I just started and there are many things I don't know yet.
Will work hard.
